So...here's how he and his mommy look at 14w3d.
Certainly showing a good bit...in a few specific places...and not sure how because I still am about a pound less than I was when I got pregnant. I've picked another pound up in the last week or two, I guess, because I now sort of steadily weigh in at 99 (give or take a few ounces) at the end of each day but considering how big I am in SOME places, I'm not sure how I've not picked up more.
I've had a yucky cold this week. Colds for me typically linger and then move into infection on a good day...so while pregnant, uck. I had a cold that actually DID go away at the beginning of my pregnancy with Matthew, and one later that turned into bronchitis, so....we'll just hope this one goes away soon. A few more days and I'll probably hit the doctor anyway because I feel like it's moving into a sinus infection.
Food is still not very appealing, unless it is Taco Bell or some sort of sweet junk food. Luke likes beans, cheese, sour cream and doughnuts. He also likes sour gummy worms and sour skittles (which are WAY too hard to find any more) but my stomach can only handle so many. I've started to have ice cream cones after dinner (with John peddling them like a drug pusher!) and right now the flavor of the week is Cherry Vanilla.
Here's what's going on with Luke:
Week Fourteen: Hormones start up | |
You are 14 weeks pregnant. (fetal age 12 weeks)
Your child's bones are getting harder and stronger by the day. Your baby's skin is very transparent still. Lanugo (very fine hair) covers the baby's body and will continue to grow until 26 weeks gestational age - Generally this will be shed prior to birth. Its purpose is to help protect baby's skin while in all that water. As your baby grows, your uterus and placenta are also growing. Six weeks ago, your uterus weighed 5 ounces (140 g). Now, it weighs about 8.75 ounces (250g). The amount of amniotic fluid around the baby is also increasing. There is now about 7.5 ounces (250ml) of fluid. You can easily feel your uterus about 3 inches (7.6cm) below your bellybutton. Your baby is 3.42 inches (8.7cm) long and weighs about 1.52 ounces (43 grams) |
Happy 14 weeks! Well, almost 15 weeks :)
ReplyDeleteSO glad that you are doing well and Luke is thriving :) Funny that you say he likes Taco Bell...Christian loved Sonic cheeseburgers and junk food! Both of which are very weird, as I do not eat fast food, but couldn't eat anything else. Oh, and he loved mango margarita mix (sans alcohol) twisted with sprite. My SIL turned me on to the mix from William Sonoma :)
I can't help but wonder what you are cooking up for your next Dr's visit, as I know the nurses and the Dr love "Lori the Goodie Baker"
Sending you prayers and loving that you are doing so well :)
Have a great weekend!
You look fabulous!

ReplyDeleteI'm an Air Force spouse from Andrews AFB, MD. I've been reading your blog for awhile and haven't posted. I hope I don't come off the wrong way, but I just wanted to warn you that you are way too early in your pregnancy to determine gender. You still have a 50% chance of boy vs girl. ALL babies have a nub at first, which eventually turns into the appropriate genitalia.
ReplyDeleteLook at the pictures on this website: http://baby2see.co.uk/gender/external_genitals.html In the pink box there is a picture of a girl at 13 weeks with a nub that looks the same as the 13 week boy picture in the blue box above. By 16 weeks you can *start* to determine gender, but even that isn't always reliable.
I'm sorry, I don't want to come off badly, but I thought it important that you at least know! I apologize if you've had an amnio or something where you know the gender for sure, but you said that his male parts were just discovered and I remember you thought it was a girl, so I'm pretty certain this is based on ultrasound.
Awww. You look so cute! I love your list of food that Luke likes- It is funny how much your taste changes with pregnancy:)
ReplyDeleteJust got in and caught up on your posts since I've been gone. I have chills and tears for the beauty of God and how He has choosen Luke for you specifically. You are a beautiful person, inside and out, thank you for letting me witness your miricles.
ReplyDeletep.s. with all the yarn that's tangled up, you will untangle in a way that feel's right to you, and in doing so, you will honor both children properly.
Happy 14 weeks first of all Lori (although will be nearly 15 by the time I get around to posting this !!!)
ReplyDeleteIt is really given me tingles reading your post as I am not yet at the stage where we have been given our baby's sex, yet I am loving Beans and Cheese and Eggs Or more the baby is. Also we have some sweets over here in the UK called Tangfastics - they are made by Haribo and they are sour sweets - sour fizzy sweets at that and baby LOVES them. I also have not been able to control my citrus cravings.... I wonder if reading your post today is a sign, a sign that a little boy may be on the horizon for us. I also read your previous post as well... the IF post... and it made me cry Lori, I too only 8 months ago gave birth to my sweet Zach, and although I am not as far into my pregnancy as you are, have faced the same questions, the same tangles, the same discussions. I feel very strongly that Zach's things are his and his alone. I don't think I CAN reuse them for my new baby (f it indeed it is a boy) because it seems unfair that my Zach never got chance to wear them, grow out of them, burp or be sick down them. But then I too feel incredibly guilty that I should feel the need for anything new for our new baby when we have everything "ready to go" it is such a hard thing to get your head around emotionally isn't it.... Pray for you constantly Lori , you and Luke and your husband. Xxxxxxx
You look adorable! I love your dress.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better from your cold and that it does not turn into an infection.
Happy 14 weeks gestation to Mr. Luke!!!
I like sour gummy worms and skittles too :) And you look adorable!
ReplyDeleteI craved ice cream like crazy with Ethan! Couldn't get enough of it...I would probably be loving it again just about now, but I've become lactose intolerant. :(
ReplyDeleteYou're looking lovely...love that bump! :)
I hope you feel better!!
ReplyDeleteI love me some junk food! :) I've def been craving more and more sugary stuff lately.
You look so cute!
